Pairing the RetailPlus bluetooth mouse with a Windows 8 bluetooth-enabled laptop was a nightmare. After some experiments, there is a protocol to follow:
Easy way:
- Do not react to the popup (Tap to set up your bluetooth optical mouse ...)
- Go to PC Settings -> Devices
- Remove the previous installation of Bluetooth optical mouse, if exists
- Click "Add Device" and hope that the mouse is in the list, otherwise reinstall batteries to make it visible
- Be patient for the installation to finish
-VoilĂ !
Tough way:
- Remove batteries from mouse
- Boot Windows
- Put mouse upside down
- Insert batteries and leave the mouse upside down (it will go to sleep right after pairing)
- Follow the popup (Tap to set up your bluetooth optical mouse ...)
- When the device list status indicator seems to have stabilized indicating "Offline" for the mouse, return the mouse in a working position and click to wake it up. VoilĂ !
Note: if the batteries are dying, the mouse will not pair properly. However, there is no LED or software popup to say the batteries are dying.
Note: when booting Windows over and over again, the mouse is responsive right away. When booting Linux then Windows, the proper pairing gets lost.
I want to know about mouse reviews and mouse history. Because when I get a project about mouse. That's why it become nice and clean.
ReplyDeleteThat was great experiment that you have able to share to us. Following these simple procedures will help us to install an optical mouse in efficient way. I have dual mouse brand and it seem that this procedures will be applicable to use for me.
